The goal he scored on debut against Everton was something of a false alarm; it was his second shot in English football, but he has failed to score with any of his last 23 attempts. In fact, he has only hit the target three times in the last seven months, in which time he has been on the pitch for nearly 16 hours. A shot on target every five hours 15 minutes of action since scoring your only goal of the season is hardly the return Van Wolfswinkel or Chris Hughton will have been hoping for.
