Hmmm...there were worse offenders than Holt last season

Namely the cowardly lazy Judas f**kwit in the #20 shirt.

Holt's problem was that he was making the 20-30 yard runs to break up play, but he wasn't going the extra 1-2 yards to actually close the player down and get up his arse, stop him turning, stop him playing. That was the main difference between him and Safri in defensive terms. In an attacking sense, of course, Safri can actually pass, which is always helpful. Whatever his limitations, Gary Holt gave 110% every time he went out there, you have to give him that. The best example of f**kwittage from the management was Birmingham, when he was very clearly seriously ill during the game, but was left to soldier on, and it nearly killed him.

Given that Safri spent large periods out injured, the sensible replacement for Holt was actually Graeme Stuart. Good player, good passer, had a decent bite in the tackle, totally and utterly wasted on the wing. It was patently obvious to anyone with a brain that his proper place was in front of the back 4 breaking up play and spreading the play around, not haring up and down the wing and trying to fill in for someone inside him who plainly couldn't be arsed.

If there was one person who deserved to be dropped, step forward Mr Francis. While he was sauntering around with his thumb up his arse, Holt and Stuart were left to run around like blue-arsed flies to cover all the gaps. Given Huckerby's left-wing slot, that left us with a midfield of 2.

Francis was very very obviously being a c**t, yet due to the size of the squad we couldn't really replace him. Well, f**k him. I would have scraped someone up from somewhere and re-organised the middle. Even a midfield of Huckerby, Stuart, Holt, and Henderson would have been an improvement (Christ, what a parade of midgets!). Instead they tried to jolly him along and hope he'd think about contributing.
