and as the ref is trying to consider what to do, Ameobi goes towards Johnson, and pushes him a few times trying to get Johnson to react even more. As Ameobi does this, several other Newcastle players crowd Johnson too
It was Newcastle's way of definitely getting Johnson sent off as well. It worked. But Ameobi should have gone because it was the same offence. Instead the graphic came up that he'd been booked for his part in trouble causing
Managers and players will take a booking if it means getting another man sent off. It's the same reason players continue to dive for pens if retrospective punishment isn't going to follow
