A Newcastle-supporting mate who works in football contacted me last night

Told me they were there for the taking, demoralised by the Cabaye sale, and it was a rock solid 3 points for us. I told him he didn't realise how bad we were.

He's been back in touch during the first half: he's in disbelief at what Hughton's doing. Says we're making them look like world beaters, which they absolutely are not.

But still, it's alright. Mecagoenti will be along in a minute to tell us that we're "competing well", and that every team in the bottom half is the same.

We'll probably win this 1-0, by the way - ye Gods of football won't forgive Newcastle's wastefulness. But I don't care. It's a disgraceful, embarrassing performance.
