We clearly won't sack him now anyway.

George Burley was sacked with Hearts top of the league. Mike Walker was sacked by Colchester after winning manager of the month; and by Norwich after winning two successive home games 5-0. Different clubs and different boards do different things, for better or worse.

Today was decisive though. We're in this to the bitter end with Hughton for the rest of this season now - so let's just hope that our habit of winning when we absolutely have to, and we survive.

If we did, don't play much football in the process, and they then bin him in the summer, the board, in fairness to them, would actually look very, very smart.

Emphasis there on 'if'.
