True - which is why they won't actually do anything until a replacement is lined up

I just can't see the point in sacking Hughton if all the Board is going to do is to replace him with someone who has (I assume) been a key part of the way Hughton develops the tactics, sets the team up and motivates the players. It's a like-for-like swap when you're trying to change things up. There's no logic to it so I don't think McNally will do it.

There's a perverse logic in doing exactly what you suggest - appointing someone totally outwith the current set up who, whilst they dont have the day-to-day knowledge of the players, at least isn't tainted by what the players have been doing in training (and who might be tempted to keep doing it when it doesn't seem to be working).

All an interim manager needs to do is achieve a Dead Cat Bounce. You might even get that with no interim manager at all (it would be interesting to see the stats on how many interim managers actually make a difference to a team's performance).

If you take the view that the current management isn't good enough to get you the points you need (which, if you're sacking someone, you must have done), on an interim basis, what's the downside of appointing someone like Adams? He can't do any worse, and there might be some upside potential.

It's all academic though - Hughton will be here for Hull (and probably beyond...)
