3 reasons for that I think
1. Everyone is so bored to tears they are somewhat subdued.
2. He's thought of as a nice bloke and we have generally "nice" fans so never going to get the type of stick west ham fans would dish out.
3. He scrapes a result in an easy game just when it looks like breaking point might be reached.
I personally think that the message boards are pretty representative of the fan base. Ok maybe the older generation who can be a bit less revolutionary are underrepresented but I don't know of many fans (whether messageboard posters or otherwise) who think he's doing a good job or do not think the general level of football on show is pretty dreadful.
