When I was a kid, on the River End terrace, I was at a game where Disco Dale equalised...

...near the end of the match to get us a 2-2 draw. It was not a great game, with little to get excited about apart from that. Two old guys behind me, presumably Norwich fans, didn't celebrate at all and one said to the other "Ain't no justice." Dale hadn't had a great game, to be honest, and had given the ball away more than usual. But these old guys would rather we had lost than he score an equaliser.

Recently, I can't remember which game it was, probably Palace, as I'm leaving my row at the end of the game, which we won, I hear a bloke say to another "Not exactly convincing...".

While not wishing to disagree with his point (it wasn't convincing) it seems even a win isn't good enough and we can't even celebrate that for a little while after the game. There's no joy in it any more and I don't agree that it's down to tactics, performances and the like but rather that the ridiculous micro-analysis and statto-expertise of every fan has destroyed the act of watching football.
