The potential of the Gutierrez signing depends entirely on how Hughton intends to use him

Gutierrez has claimed 6 goals and 10 assists from 145 prem appearances, which clearly isn't going to address our current issue in regards to end product. If anything the only true quality that we should expect him to bring to the club (if he signs for us) are the aforementioned (down the board) defensive qualities.

I'm really not sure what to make of this potential signing. If he's being looked at as the answer to our productivity in the final third then I'll be a tad concerned, but I suppose this would be an okay signing if Hughton decides to use him as a right back. Note the impressive defensive stats within the first link, although it must be said that those stats were while he was playing as a winger and a right back.
