Goodison today

Now I always enjoy my trips to Goodison Park. An 'old school' stadium, passionate but friendly fans, and that over the years, we've generally done alright.

Up to kick-off, Goodison delivered its usual retro experience, and with seats nearer to the front of the Lower Bullens, we could see most of the game. Also encouraged by the selection of Hoops and RVW.

But as the game got going, the optimism faded. We were defensive, tentative and unambitious. Everton pushed us back with ease with our defence and midfield often about 10 yards apart and Hoops and RVW isolated. None of the midfield got seriously stuck in to the tackles and every break-down ball went to Everton. Leroy did his best, but Snodgrass was on a different planet and all over the place (not in a good way).

Stood miles of Barry for the first. Silly challenge from Bennett for the free-kick for the second. Everton generally in 2nd gear. Redmond gave us some momentum, but by then it was too late.

We looked like we were tactically negative, uninspired, and lacking belief. For me, that comes from the Management Team. So where was it? This cannot be allowed to go on.

The support for the Team in the Away 'End' was as ever, top-notch. We were trying to push the Team on, an effort sadly not matched from the Away Dug-Out. A change is needed, and fast. But I still need to be convinced who is the man to do it, CH or McNally, tending towards the latter.
