When is stealing stealing exactly?

I once went to Spazda to get some stuff for a BBQ. The bint on the till was clearly on another planet...and started whizzing the booze I'd loaded up first through the scanner at a rate of knots. With it piling up dangerously the other side and likely to fall off the convayer, I asked her to wait till I'd unloaded the trolley.

This she duly did, giving me a chance to unload and then pack up the other end. When it came to paying the bill at the end I was charged around ?45. Expecting the bill to be well over ?100 what with the booze, I was somewhat bemused, but paid and left.

Wasn't till I'd loaded up the car that I decided to look at the receipt. It appears in the time it took me to unload the rest of the shopping, the items that had been scanned already (eg ALL the booze) had been voided and the only thing I paid for was the food.

Now that's Asda price.
