Anyway, yes, it's Europe wide and IIRC was introduced to stop rich club madness during the season. I think it was somehow supposed to benefit poorer clubs; but it doesn't of course as the rich clubs can always make do - they might miss out on Europe if they get a couple of injuries; but for half the EPL it potentially makes the difference between staying up & relegation.

Wasn't it introduced the year we went up with Worthy? I can remember thinking at the time it was almost designed to f**k us up
