because when it boils down to it, he's a 12 goal a season striker at best, whether that's due not him not being that good or being a bit of a crock, I'm not sure. Certainly doesn't have a "great" goals record as some suggest.

He can't effectively play up top by himself and needs someone to perform the link up play for him, so when you consider that his goals record isn't that special then he does seem a bit of an expensive buy for them, but then they were overspending on all sorts around that time...Wickham and AJ included.

I read a report the other day suggesting that the mackems would be happy to sell him for around ?4 million. While I don't believe that they would sell him for that price (would be shocked if they did) it says a great deal that this sort of price is being touted.
