I think Garrido is okay as a back up
because he has shown that he can sustain good form for a couple of months before going off the boil, which isn't a problem if you only start a dozen or so games a season at most.
He did the same at Man City when they kept about 5 clean sheets during the first six games of one season. He was playing excellently but was unable to maintain that form long term, so later became the back up.
In fact, if you look at his career record he has often been a reserve. So he will do fine in that role I think, especially when he gets a chance again, knowing that a superior player is in the way.
