Tech help....wrong day but! Mozilla Firefox

Been using for 4 months as people said was better on my new laptop. No issues but can't see many benefits.
However, today I go to usual shortcut and address bar IS NOT Firefox says something about search.conduit.com. Has adverts and no little fox.
Done a full virus scan and nothing.
Also tried the smell up the USB
I'm out of ideas....please help!
