I don't get the Becchio situation at all

Strikers not scoring so why not try Becchio at all? Has something happened between the scenes? My fear is that we ship Becchio our in January and he pops up somewhere-else and begins to score goals for fun. In some ways similar to James Vaughan situation-granted that he is injury-prone but another one never given a proper chance.
