If you want to be a journalist...

Newspapers/magazines actually prefer a non-specialist subject. Its better to do English or something rather than a specific journalism course. That way when you get there and they pay for an advanced Journalism course, you will be trained the way they want you to be, not how you have been trained already. Plus, it gives you a broader all round knowledge of things - and you can always specialise in sports in training.
