It's probably inevitable
One question is how does promoval work - answer there probably wouldn't be any, but when then happens when one of the clubs turns s**t and there's another, patently better club, not in that closed league.
Another is, how does money trickle down from those big clubs to the grass roots.
For me, I like the system some countries have where the biggest clubs can put a B side in which can never advance higher than (say) tier three - so you'd start Man U B in, say, Blue Square Premier and let them find their own level but they could never be promoted higher than League One.
