The next few months...

will be the most important for the short term future of the club.

Nigel has already let 5 players go with the possibility of others to follow. The transfer window rules apply to the Championship next season so Nigel will have to be on his toes to start making signings earlier than he has done in the past.

It is this fact that gives me most cause for concern. Worthy has a reputation for sitting on his hands during the early summer whilst other clubs move for their targets. Sheff Utd already moving for Ifill is a classic example.

Last year Nigel expended a lot of time and energy signing two goalies before turning his attentions to outfield players. He signed the two scandinavians too late in the summer for them to get a decent pre-season in.

The year before, we missed out on a number of targets and started with a mediocre squad which was only rescued by the loan signings of Crouch, Hucks and Harper. With the transfer window rules, there will be no doing that this year.

I appreciate that some of his targets will be waiting for their contracts to conclude but we need action sooner rather than later.
