Nonsense
The one thing the criticism is not due to is a dislike of Hughton personally. Even his mote vehement critics acknowledge that he is a decent bloke and its a shame therefore that he seems incapable of turning it around.
You are now not far off the territory of claiming that people don;t like Hughton because he's black.
People criticise Hughton because:
1. We do not win enough football matches, especially away from home;
2. We lose too many football matches, especially away from home;
3. We do not go all out to win matches that are there for the taking due to the manager's inherent caution;
4. The manager consistently shows himself unwilling or unable to proactively influence games whilst they are in progress through tactical changes and/or substitutions.
5. We are in the relegation zone with 1/4 of the season gone and with a very tough run in have a limited window in which to accumulate the points we need to stay up so we cannot afford to wait and cross our fingers that things will suddenly turn.
6. people are genuinely worried we will get relegated.
7. Even when we play well we rarely create more than a couple of genuine, clear cut goal scoring chances.
In contrast the arguments for retaining Hughton seem to be that (i) he is a decent bloke, (ii) what about the 10 match run (iii) we have played better in the last 4 games and (iv) who would you replace them with.
Of those only point (iii) is a legitimate argument in my view but even then what have we got to show for it?
I don;t think he's lost the dressing room but by the same token i don;t look at our players and see a particularly buzzing, happy group full of spirit at the moment and it would not surprise me if some of those who are not in the starting line up are completely disillusioned but then i guess that's the downside of having a decent sized squad.
