This is the problem

Hughton's record since last December should see him on the verge of losing his job, but there really aren't many ideal replacements available.

Di Matteo seems the best option, not as good as his Chelsea record suggests, nor is he anywhere near as bad as a manager who apparently deserved the sack after gaining his WBA team promotion.

Zola knows the premier league well enough from his time at West Ham. Did okay there, great first season, struggled the next season with players being sold but kept them up. His teams play great football too. Would be a fair compo though.

A worst "best case scenario" would Curbishley. Knows the league well, has a great managerial track record and has developed a lot of players and made them play at their full potential. Is a loyal manager withe right board. Only worry is that he might have fallen out of touch with the game.

Other than Foreign options (unknown to me) then I don't really see any quality out there.
