I think its to do with goal difference.

You can sit tight and take a 2-1 defeat in a game you had down as a loss anyway, and only get minus one your GD, or take try and nick a draw whilst running risk of being opened up. Damage limitation and all that.

We went for it yesterday but ultimately took a bigger hit on our GD.

A better goal difference is worth an extra point innit.

I think thats probably what Hoots is trying to explain.
