I?m slightly confused why some are comparing any future CR expansion to the scum
What they did 10 or so years ago is vastly different to where we are now. Firstly they only stayed up two seasons. After the first they spent massively beyond their means and got themselves in tonnes of debt. We?re not in that position. We?ve done thing properly and in a sustainable way.
Secondly, the income we receive now is significantly greater than what the scum received at the start of the 00s.
And thirdly we?ve been selling out games consistently and had a season ticket waiting list for over 5 years. The demand for expansion is clearly there. If the worst happens and we get relegated are we likely to see a half empty stadium and crowds of 15,000 ? 16,000? I doubt it. It didn?t happen when we got relegated to League 1.
For me we are never going to get a better time than in the next year or two to do it. If we finish mid table again this season, we?re never going to be a more established Premier league side. Every side outside of the top 6/7 has the potential to get relegated. That?s not going to change for us if we have another 3, 4, 5 years of mid table Premier League football.
