I think it helps the atmosphere that the aways fans are close to the Barclay

Even though the River end lower used to be terracing I don't see why it makes it any more suitable now. In my experience, there's very little difference in the slope at either end, and indeed there's a lot more room under the Barclay to accomodate more people. The River End is cramped as hell.
