paying off the debt is still usually considerably cheaper than the amount you'd have to pay owners for a profit-making asset-rich club. You just threaten the debtholders with admin and they'll usually accept less than they're due.

That's why clubs like us and Swansea have no foreign ownership (or are actually even the subject of any serious bids) while basket cases like Hull and Cardiff do.
