I'm sure he's been handsomely rewarded for it though!
I also wonder how much of a cheap 'insurance policy' he was in case of relegation - ie maybe we picked him up so that we had a proven championship level striker ready on the books (with any Premiership potential being a bonus), but knowing that we could probably flog him on for a decent figure if we stayed up and didn't need him.
