I'm sorry, but he's mid way through putting a lot of force through the bat and to expect to be able to feel such a tiny, tiny nick during that process is pretty slim, and in no way is it a justification of the third umpire's misinterpretation of what happened.
That said, we're had the rub of the green more that Australia have, so I suppose we move on.
