He was the subject of a long-running internet gag in Argentina. He was alleged to have superpowers or something, or have secret dirt on the Barcelona manager at the time, anything that could justify his very surprisng transfer.
The river fans I knew at the time were absolutely delighted he'd been sold. Mind you that was ages ago now. He didn't get many games at Barca before being shipped out though. 3/4 of a season on the bench pretty much, with either no goals or just the one I think
