Its stated to be a 2-year deal, same as what is now left on his deal.

He'll be coming up for 34 that following year. I imagine he will either happily sit his last year on the bench if they go up, or play on with them if they don't. Then he really is likely to try and play on with Carlisle for as long as he can? I'm sure he'd be able to still get a thousand or two a week in League 1 if they're still there. More than enough to live on up there!
