Yeah, that's what's started to happen to me now.
I now use the following:
Lone Striker (preferably decent strength/jumping/heading/first touch etc. like a target man, but set as "striker")
AML and AMR (with diagonal runs towards either side of the striker, both set as "winger"s)
3 CMs (Either 2 AMCs with forward runs, and one DM running back if you want to set the formation as attacking against weaker sides, or 2 DMs running back and 1 AMC making a forward run to be more defensive. Set as "AM" and "DM" as necessary)
Then your run-of-the-mill 4 at the back (preferably with full-backs who can get forward and whip in a decent ball, only set as FBs though, with forward runs if playing the defensive CM combination and without if playing the attacking CM combo to balance it nicely.)
Tend to put creative freedom up if using the attacking CM combo with the DMs set as playmaker, providing he's got very good creativity and passing.

- I had thought about that - too many decent strikers now though. (Other Football) - Arganth, Nov 15, 14:44:18
