Best thing that could happen: fail to qualify.

Withdraw from the next two competitions and just stop. No more England. Just for a couple of years. Still play the U19s and U21s and that, but no senior games. At all. No friendlies, nothing.

Then, once qualification starts again, select from the U19s and U21s that have still been playing.

Automatic two-year ban for every autobiography published by a current international. One new shirt every year, alternating between home and away, so each shirt lasts two years.

This argument was proposed by @Twisted_Blood on That Twitter, and the more I think about it, the more I agree.
