Problem is, respect for referees is instilled in rugby players from an early age
Which is definitely not the case with footballers. With the problem being so ingrained in the game at all levels, I think the scale of the job is too big to achieve just by saying to referees, 'okay, next time a player swears at you, send him off'. Needs something more systemic and meaningful (the whole 'Respect' campaign is a joke).
