Will need loads of money to change the style
They've had a net spend of something like ?80 since they first came up. For all that money spent they don't seem to have too many great players, a few decent to good ones such as Adam, Crouch, Nzonzi, Huth, Shawcross and Begovic, but nobody exceptional really. There's not too many with a great re sale value there in all honesty.
A slow change of style will probably be needed because most of the players in that squad have had a mentality ingrained into them where not conceding and being tough to beat matters more than anything. Stoke have a big wage bill and a large debt so I doubt that they can make wholesale changes overnight. It would take an exceptional manager to get them playing good football with the same squad.
Still, I can see why they sacked Pulis, spending all of that money just to play s**t football and finish mid table every season is poor. They came kind of close to winning a cup, but as Wigan and Swansea have proved this season it's not that difficult to do, a club with a big budget like Stoke shouldn't be making excuses really either way.
