What do the EPL squads say on paper?
Re: the debate below, OK - here's my best guess as to what SHOULD have happened this season, based on the quality of the respective squads. Completely subjective exercise though, and everyone will disagree.
1. Manchester City
2. Chelsea
3. Manchester United
4. Arsenal
5. Tottenham Hotspur
6. Liverpool
7. Newcastle United
8. Everton
9. Aston Villa
10. Fulham
11. Queens Park Rangers
12. West Bromwich Albion
13. Stoke City
14. Swansea City
15. Sunderland
16. Norwich City
17. West Ham United
18. Wigan Athletic
19. Southampton
20. Reading
Complicating that, though, is the downward spiral Villa have been on for several years; the absolute shambles of a club QPR are off the field; and the stability of very well run clubs like West Brom or Swansea. Jol, though? He's made a mess of it; nice guy, but a slapdash manager, and his teams very often under-achieve as a result.

- Fulham are a very old team as well (n/m) (NCFC) - mr carra, May 12, 21:16:32

- Yes. Fulham especially. It doesn't play out that way because Swansea's teamplay (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:16:37
- yeah, they've got a great structure off the pitch as well (NCFC) - Mecagoenti, May 12, 21:18:45
- Is Jol really that bad? (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 21:31:33
- He's certainly not a bad manager, just had a bad year (NCFC) - mr carra, May 12, 21:40:39
- Hoot only has 2 decent months to his name. (n/m) (NCFC) - phrankin, May 12, 21:55:48

- 05/6, when they blew it on the last day, he was good. Afterwards, he blew it (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:36:08
- So you're saying he's not even prem standard? (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 21:39:31
- He's not BAD. He's just not that good either. And I think Fulham should replace him in the (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:44:25
- I respect your opinion, because at least you make some valid points (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 21:50:22
- Yes they could. Which is the whole point really. And what Big Mo says goes. (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:52:45
- Big if though... (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 21:58:52
- Oh, for sure. But on the basis that this was always going to be a season of cutting (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 22:02:38
- If the tactics were altered due to Ruddy then Hughton needs to bring in a far better back (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 22:13:53
- No, not tactics. It's all about presence. A confident, reliable keeper begats (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 22:17:43
- Well some are claiming we only defended deep because of Bunn's lack of dominance (NCFC) - Common Sense Police, May 12, 22:23:25

- Absolutely. The owners bought that club in order to make it one of the biggest (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:57:14

- Exactly. Almost unheard of for a smaller British club to run themselves in such a way (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:19:54
- Except in those years we were going bust (NCFC) - mr carra, May 12, 21:23:25
- The problem in those years, I think, was our extraordinarily low gates (NCFC) - thebigfeller, May 12, 21:25:52
- But we were going bust before relegation (NCFC) - mr carra, May 12, 21:32:07
