He actually has very little Prem league managerial experience. Less than half a season with Newcastle.

His two biggest achievements are getting the Geordies straight back up and getting cash-strapped Brum to the play-offs at the first time of asking.

I think McNally knew this season would be tight because of the debt payback and so got Hoots in in case we did end up getting relegated. Therefore I don't think he is under threat at all and would be given the task of getting us straight back up.
