Apparently due to Charles De Gaulle threatening to invade Monaco

French citizens who come to live in Monaco after 1962 pay tax to the French government on their Monaco income.

However, the LFP has now ruled that all its clubs should be subject to the same financial regulations, giving Monaco until June 1, 2014 to fall in line.
