I'm not saying it's simple or straightforward. But I wasn't the one who said it was 'completely indefensible'. All I was saying was that it isn't obvious that the Cypriot people should pay for the losses of Cypriot banks - which they ran up largely using the cash of Europe's and Russia's mega-rich. The deposit tax will mean some of the cost is also borne by Russian money launderers. I don't know that there's an obviously much better solution.
