To be fair....

Let's look at this way:
Southampton looked "dangerous" on numerous occasions, and had 13 shots, we only had, like 4.
2-7 in real goal attempts.

We had no midfield, with Howson pick of the crop losing the ball on numerous occ, and when Pilktington went off, it got worse, although Wes holds off the ball and plays some lovely through balls, the strikers get no real decent service imo.

Sometimes it actually looked like we had no mdfield, with So'ton players allowed to run through at will....

Russell Martin only had one burst down the right flank and had a decent cross.
Garrido was fair, but is terrible at clearing from defence along with Snodgrass, who clearly should be playing on the left hand side.
He takes a million minutes to turn the ball to his left, and by that time he has lost the ball infitely.

Ah, well, and I blame the weather.
