Random thoughts on yesterday, without having thought them through first

Firstly, what a fantastic feeling at the final whistle, and how marvellous it is to see three points won by means of throwing men forwards. No, i don't demand that we do so in every game, but once we'd equalised that game was here for the taking and we went for it. Bassong - oh my, what a player, what incredible will the man possesses. MOM yesterday by a stretch and a strong contender for POTS already.

Becky - well I can see what Hoots had in mind, or at least I think I can, and there's potential there to use him with Holt in a two, but he's a bit short at present. He ought to mesh with Holt once they understand each other better, though his first touch can be a bit heavy and he does get caught in two minds, and in possession. Fingers crossed.

Kamara - I don't need to write anything. Just what we needed, well done Hoots.

Centre mid - well I thought Howson did well, and added something. I'd like to see him used that way more often: we certainly didn't get overrun without the second ballwinner. BJ played well too.

Wes had a bit of an off day. He's not a winger, is he?

Nice to see Snoddy go out left at the end, in search of the winner, and it made me chuckle to see that not long after I'd posted on here about the ineffectiveness of inverted wingers, our winner came from a Rusty cross from the left: the difference yesterday was that we had several players for him to aim at, rather than just the one. Brilliant - discipline went out of the window, and we won because of it. Not recommended for the long term, of course, but absolutely thrilling.

Staying up staying up staying up. Stay - ing - up.
