First of all do you have a dual (or more) antenna 802.11N router and client? N is hugely better on reach as well as speed. If not upgrades are not that expensive.

Secondly you can buy an extender. They just pick up the signal and amplify it. You can position it in the current range and it will extend your range.

Or if you have a spare router you can do what I also did and piggy back it as an extender. Then it has to connect to your current router using an Ethernet cable.

Just be aware that if an extender or piggy backed router is B/G you will of course not have the N speed on your network.
