My view on the whole boring football/staying up at all costs debate
and bare with me please, I've had a couple of beers this evening....
Yes, we can look at teams like Swansea, and Saints, and think we should be emulating them. The fact is, we have just come off the most amazing 3 years in the history of Norwich City, let alone the history of most clubs in the league. This year is about consolidation and building a platform for the future.
We HAVE to pay off our debts this season - that was agreed with the banks when we were in League 2. That means we have very limited spending power, almost certainly the most constrained in the EPL.
With that backdrop, Hoots has managed to turn us into a dour team that is hard to watch, but hard to beat. I find watching Norwich a chore right now.
That said, think back 3 years, and we were playing Brentford and Yoevil. For the two teams we think we should be emulating/beating, there are 50 other teams that would take our league postion in a heartbeat. Just think of the Champs teams have been playing for the last 15 years....Leicester, Millwall, Chystal Palarse, Wolves, Scum, Coventry, Barnsley, Charlton etc etc etc.
In summary, I agree that we are deathly dull right now. If we stay up this season, I will be the biggest achievement in our 113 year history IMHO.
Sorry, long post.
