In my experience the M6 *does* bring out the worst in drivers.

I do a fair bit of motorway mileage on the M1 and M62, and it always seems that the majority of the drivers stick to the "keep left unless overtaking" thing, apart from, obviously, the CIAs and CIBs in the right hand lane, because that's the only lane that they use.

But as soon as you go on the M6, the left hand lane is an empty barren wilderness you could safely play cricket on, with everyone clogging up the middle and right-hand lanes, getting too close to the car in front because they're frustrated that they can't pass becuase "he's hogging the middle/right-hand lane!" and causing everyone else to be a bit slower and grumpier.

It is a horrible road.
