Swansea
Swansea have been successful as they appoint managers who fit the style of play that their players play and the club hae played for several years which means they do not need a complete upheaval of their squad to suit the new managers different philosophy. The new manager can then simply add a sprinkling of players to the squad to improve it (ie. Michu a better version of Danny Graham etc).
In my opinion one of the problems we have is the Hughton and Lambert are polar opposites in philosophy. Lambert was all out attack where as Hughton is cautious and more attritional in his style looking to make maximum use of set pieces. This has given Hughton a tough time in trying to shape the side into his team and philosophy. I don't think he really knows how to fit some of the players he inherited into his team and get the best out of them (Fox, Howson, Bennett, Jackson & even Holt) in the way that Lambert did. I also don't think some of the players feel comfortable as yet in his style hence why some have really struggled this season having looked promising last year ( Howson, Pilks)
It as also made it quite hard for some fans to get used to as Hughton's style is certainly not as entertaining to watch. However I'm sure we are all in agreement if we stay up Hoots will ave done a good job as that first and foremost has to be or aim every season.
