What do Barclays actually DO for the Prem, out of interest?

Is it simply that the bid the highest just to have their name shown every time the league is mentioned, in press and on TV? Or do they provide other services too? Fuck, it must've been a lot of money if the former. Imagine that! The Suggy premier League.
