Surely this hooper thing is going to come to nothing?
Even if we're interested in him, and let's face it, the story is a product of hughton watching a Celtic game rather than anything more, why would Celtic sell him in the jan window when they are about to play juve in the champions league?
Even if they were willing to listen to offers, it would surely take an offer well in excess of ?5m for them to sell, I would have thought more like ?7.5m or maybe even more than that - I just don't think we'll spend that kind of money on one player.
Granted decent strikers cost a lot, but if we look at the squad it seems to me that there is a bit of a strength in depth issue - we have a strong first 11, but not all of our reserves are quite good enough. Would have thought hoot would be more inclined to buy two ?4m players than one for ?8m.
Interesting times though, just don't think hopper will be a canary this window - hopefully in the summer though!
