Have a look at "ClickFree" drive
Don't know how techy you or the missus are. Got this for my Dad. As easy as it gets. Literally one click backup and restore. He has fried multiple computers and each time was able to recover all his personal files without stressing me out for hours on the phone or worse having to do a house visit. ?82.98 Xmas offer on QVC at the moment for 1/2 Terrabyte.
