Todays shooting
A total tragedy and heart breaking to see, such a waste of life.
Obama's reaction is the normal reaction of any human faced by such tragedy however he has done absolutely nothing to change gun control in the USA. He has continually bottled bringing in legislation to increase gun control because of the power of the NRA and how many votes he would have lost in the election. Just an opinion.
In my opinion you will never be able to change the USA constitution, well not in the foreseeable future and therefore the only way is to have good gun control. It would be relatively easy to instigate a ban on semi automatic assault rifles as these have been mostly registered as when you purchase one you have to go through a background check. The easiest solution here would be to only allow bolt action rifles and make it a felony to own anything semi-automatic over a certain barrel length. Easy to enact and enforce.
The issue of handguns however is far more complex, there are literally millions and millions of unregistered firearms in existence so the recall of these is nearly impossible. The use however and carrying of them could be where the Federal control could be enacted. The use of extended magazines for example. I can legally buy 30 round magazines for my Glock 17.
In my opinion the USA is too far down the line to enact a total ban but certain things could be done to limit the opportunities for crimes like these.
I am sure this will get a lot of attention and rightfully so, clearly something has to be done.
