what mugs! buying SLRs when they could have something just as good for half the price

photo quality is obviously better than traditional compacts, but it simply isn't as good as an SLR, hence why pros continue to use SLRs.
You will also know about the viewfinder issues and they also have smaller sensors due to their smaller bodies, not to mention being slower.
The only advantages they have are still size and price.
