You can download without a subscription, but NOT the most recently released games....

Those are downloadable to Xbox Live Gold Members first. Not sure how long after release silver members get them, but would guess around 30 days.

Re. the console you mention, 4GB is not a lot if you are planning on downloading demos. An average big game demo is going to be at least 1GB normally, sometimes 1.5GB, so take that into consideration, plus your saved game files too....

If you'd like me to look for any good packages for you and give some advice I'd be happy to, but it'd be at about 16:45 now ;)
