Got back from a two week holiday in India yesterday
Did the usual ?Golden Triangle? of Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal) and Jaipur, the Pink City. On the way from Agra to we went to the national park at Ranthambore. A truly fantastic place! We were lucky enough to see four tigers. All wild and one extremely dangerous as he has killed three men already!
We stayed in Rajasthan and went to Udiapur and Jodhpur. Both these cities were cleaner and less hassle free than Jaipur. They each have a population of c0.5million, while Jaipur has a population of over 4million.
We stayed in Havelis, old Indian hotels, which tend to be quite sumptuous offering great value and home stays which are posh bed and breakfasts, although we did come unstuck in one home stay which wasn?t quite so posh!
Saw some stunning countryside and ate some fantastic food. Usually i can?t wait to have a curry when I get back from holiday, but after two weeks of nothing but curry I?ll probably wait until next weekend!
Fascinating as my dad was posted to India during the war and served with the Rajputan rifles, based in Rajasthan when with the Royal Norfolks.
